Amrita Park Meadery - Pomona

Nestled at the base of the majestic 439m high Mount Cooroora and the Tuchekoi National Park, Pomona is the perfect base to explore the natural wonders and authenticity of the Noosa Hinterland.   The township is home to a great selection of businesses including service industries, interesting food and beverage options, antiques and collectables, art and more!

For hikers, access to the summit of Mt Cooroora is available from the township.  You can also rock climb the mountain’s near vertical north face; or hike, mountain bike or ride horses along the trails at its base.  Treks further afield into the Noosa Biosphere are possible via three of the trails on the Noosa Trial Network: 9km Cooroora Trail to Cooran, 15km Mac n Back Trail to Lake Macdonald and 11km Cooroy Wanderer Trail to Cooroy.

From 1909 until 1980 Pomona was the administrative centre for the Noosa Shire Council and the old Shire Chambers now house the Noosa Shire Museum.  Just as steeped in history is the Majestic Theatre, built in 1921, it is believed to be the world’s oldest continuously running silent movie cinema.  A heritage walk around the town can be conducted in about an hour and includes 24 sites including the Gubbi Gubbi Island of Reconciliation at Cooroora Creek Park.

A major annual event is the King of the Mountain Festival in July which was immortalised by the rock band Midnight Oil’s song of the same name.  The Noosa Country Show is also held in Pomona every September.  Weekly markets are also held.
