Pomona and District Chamber of Commerce Inc. acknowledges the Kabi Kabi people as the traditional owners of the land on which we strive towards a shared goal of a united community working together. We pay our respects to the Elders of this land – past, present and emerging.

The Pomona and District Chamber of Commerce (PDCC) exists for the prosperity and welfare of the people of the Northern Noosa Hinterland.

The Chamber covers the communities of Boreen Point, Cooran, Cootharaba, Federal, Kin Kin and Pomona.

We strive to make a positive difference to the district’s economic and business health by influencing future development and, consistent with Noosa lifestyle values, through achievable policy solutions underpinning local identity.

And we encourage innovation and sustainable growth that respects the environment.

What We Do

The Chamber is a ‘clearing house’ for ideas and is intended to be a working forum for development of the Northern Noosa Hinterland community of 8000 people living in distinct villages – each with its own character.

Collaborative investment and planning will support growth and diversification of the local economy and build upon existing economic advantages in agribusiness, commercial and craft furniture manufacturing, tourism, health retreats, knowledge-based and single-person businesses, and innovation.

All need the support of each other.

History of the Chamber

The Pomona and District Chamber of Commerce Inc formed in September 2020 when professionals and business people realised our district needed a stronger and united voice.

The group was incorporated officially in early January 2021 and is recognised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ). Working together, the businesses involved believe they can look to each other for mutual support, promotion and advocacy that strengthens local commerce and job creation.

The Chamber supports the following:

• Increased awareness of Noosa Shire – both from a tourism and economic development perspective.
• A diversified local economy that is socially and environmentally sustainable.
• Increased visitor satisfaction – providing quality experiences that deliver on the brand promise and core values of the area, and services that meet visitor needs and expectations.

Current projects include:

• Tourism – Supporting Tourism Noosa and Noosa Council in development of the Noosa Trail Network as the basis of sustainable nature-based eco-tourism experiences across the hinterland.
• Town planning – Ensuring that the hinterland villages, Pomona in particular, grow in ways that preserve connectivity, community interaction and lifestyle through a master planning process.
• Reducing our carbon footprint – Partnership and advocacy with organisations such as Zero Emissions Noosa in the take-up of renewable energy initiatives that protect the planet.
• Communications – In support of small and home-based businesses, lobby for better and faster mobile coverage across the region, and wi-fi availability within Pomona.
• Sustainability – As a business group, check the damage caused by extractive industries inconsistent with our World Biosphere status and lobby actively for safer roads used by quarry trucks.
• Industry – Working with Noosa Council’s Economic Development Team and planners, consider the appropriate location of new business and responsible enterprises on serviced land designated for that purpose within the Noosa Plan.
• Transport – Advocate the take-up of active transport (walking and cycling) as easy and convenient solutions for getting about, explore with council ways of reducing parking impacts on communities and lobbying government for improved train and bus services, including by electric buses.
• Preventing natural disasters – A proactive approach to natural disaster management and environmental resilience will be driven by best practice management of natural landscapes and built environments to reduce the impacts and effects of floods and bushfires and other major weather events of Australia’s variable climate.
