Watershed Australia - Boreen Point

Boreen Point & Elanda Point are situated on the shores of Lake Cootharaba, Queensland’s largest saltwater lake, surrounded by National Park.  The lake is also home to Australia's only everglades with crystal clear, reflective waters and ancient tea tree forests providing a home for over 40% of Australia's bird species.  Walk, canoe or cruise the waters and drop in to the Kinaba Visitor Information Centre which is home to a number of displays on the Noosa Everglades, the wildlife that inhabits them, maps and heritage information.

Lake Cootharaba is perfect for nature lovers with sailing, kayaking, canoeing, camping, bush walking, swimming, fishing and bird and wildlife spotting. The lake is also popular with families due to its shallow depth and variety of camping options available.

The Cooloola Wilderness Trail winds through the area, a Grade 4 walking track which is 48km long, one way. There are multiple short and long walks to chose from along the Trail.  Visitors can enjoy the tall eucalyptus trees, scribbly gum woodland and rainforest-fringed creeks. Along the trail you will hear songs from friarbirds and popping sounds from yellow-tailed black cockatoos eating seeds. Travel back in time and visit historic Mill Point, a former sawmill and township which was home to over 100 people in the 1800s. It is an easy 2.5km walk from Elanda Point.
